CustomWeather and Carbon Project Announce Strategic Partnership

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 8, 2005 - CustomWeather, a San Francisco-based provider of syndicated global weather content, has announced a strategic partnership with The Carbon Project, the world leader in Open-Geospatial .NET technology. The multi-year agreement calls for global weather content deployed on CustomWeather's new Web Feature Service (WFS) to be available through The Carbon Project's software tools, including CarbonArc, a new extension for the popular ESRI ArcGIS platform.

"CustomWeather is very proud to have partnered with the Carbon Project. This relationship will enable CustomWeather's mapping technology to extend to ESRI's ArcGIS platform and also enable a greater reach for CustomWeather's wealth of spatial weather information. CustomWeather now has the ability to deliver its content as a Web Feature Service (WFS) in addition to delivery via vector-based shape files and images through its OpenGIS-based map server," said Geoff Flint, President and CEO, CustomWeather, Inc.

"The opportunity to partner with CustomWeather makes sense from every angle. Integrating The Carbon Project's open-geospatial technology with CustomWeather's global weather coverage will benefit customers worldwide. The combination of our new CarbonArc product with CustomWeather's real-time information services ushers in a new generation of commercial spatial content delivery and we're excited by the potential," said Jeff Harrison, President and CEO, Carbon Project, Inc.

CustomWeather's global weather coverage will be integrated with the CarbonArc extension through a new online Web Feature Service and CarbonTools. The CarbonArc Weather extension is built with the next-generation of CarbonTools and uses powerful new access, display and processing technologies to make GML, an XML language for geospatial information, easily usable and accessible to everyone. The CarbonArc Weather extension will be commercially available in late 2005.
